The Fauntleroy Community Association is returning to in-person business meetings. On April 12th the FCA board will meet in the Emerald Room at the Hall at Fauntleroy (South end of the School House building) instead of our usual meeting place in the boardroom. Out of caution we have selected a larger space in which to meet. Alternatively we will still be operating our meeting in a hybrid fashion, allowing folks to connect via Zoom. Details for registering for the Zoom meeting can be found at fauntleroy.net/meetings
It’s almost time! For what, you say? The FCA Annual Spring Egg Hunt, of course. Between April 12 and April 16, volunteers will be hiding eggs throughout the greater Fauntleroy area. This is a no-candy event. The boundaries are 35th Ave SW, SW Morgan St and Puget Sound. So keep your eyes open for eggs that may appear on any day. When you see one, grab the kiddies and go hunting!
After finding an egg, we would love it if you would post a picture on Facebook, Twitter, or on Instagram. Don’t forget to tag your photo with #FCAegghunt. Also you can recycle the eggs at either the Old School House or at 8801 Fauntleroy Way SW. Have an eggsellent time!
The FCA Annual Meeting and Foodfest is back! On Tuesday May 3rd the FCA will hold its Annual Meeting and Foodfest in the Fauntleroy Schoolhouse from 6 to 8 PM. We will once again host various nonprofit organizations and local eateries for a bite of their choosing. FCA’s annual election of board members will be held during a brief business meeting around 7 PM. The event is free for all FCA members. New residents are encouraged to come join the FCA and see the many things available in this amazing community. Current members are encouraged to turn out and welcome in the spring after a long winter. We will be following King County’s curent recommendations regarding masks and Vaccinations.
Remember FCA’s great fall pumpkin hunt in 2020?
Or last spring’s egg hunt? If you enjoyed participating or were sorry you missed them, another hunt is coming the week of April 11! Watch for details in the mail about FCA’s spring egg hunt, then pick a sunny-side-up day that week to to poach. This event is sure to go over easy with the whole family. The FCA has been working over the past few months with Seattle DOT to address traffic and safety issues in our neighborhood. SDOT is now seeking the public’s input for their long-range plan via their online survey. If you are concerned about local transportation or issues such as the lack of sidewalks or pedestrian safe streets, we encourage you to let your voice be heard in this brief but important survey. In September 2001, the United States went through one of its most challenging times. When I woke up that morning to the news that an airplane had flown into a building in New York, I hit “Snooze.”
By the time my clock radio came on again, another plane had flown into another building. I rushed downstairs to watch on TV as one of the biggest tragedies in American history unfolded. Kids at school, our teachers, our parents - everyone knew our lives had changed.
